If you’re looking for my Etsy store, it’s still open. You can find it here.
I am an artist living and working in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, in a cordwood house my husband and I designed and built. I am continuously inspired by the rural landscape of forests and fields that surrounds me. You can read more about our house on our blog, nerdwood.com.
I create mixed media art using my favorite materials; acrylic paint, decorative papers, found objects and reclaimed wood. I create many of the collage papers myself using translucent mulberry paper and fluid acrylics. I love to incorporate repurposed materials such as old maps, painted leaf skeletons, branches and recycled metal. My work combines abstract patterns and textures with motifs drawn from the world I observe around me; animals, birds, leaves and flowers.
My fondness for found objects and repurposed materials led me to experiment with creating jewelry using colorful decorative tins and vintage butttons from rummage sales and thrift stores. I love finding the new possibilities in these objects and I hope you enjoy my work.
